Keeping up with consistent gym attendance during the summer can be difficult. Whether that be because you're a committed beach goer, have family in town for a summer gathering, or you're feeling fatigued from the heat, we have the perfect solution to keep you motivated! DEEM's summer challenges introduce some friendly competition into our space where you can aim to beat a personal record, or someone else's!
The Battle Rope Challenge
Last week we kicked things off with the battle rope challenge. Those dreaded ropes were used to their max with people fighting against the stopwatch. We tracked and displayed our top 3 clients on the whiteboard, with the longest single effort as well as longest time accumulated throughout the week. It was great to watch people come in and battle over that 1st place spot. Our client Liam killed it with this challenge and was battling those ropes for a whole hour and one minute! He was awarded appropriately with one of our future products we will have in stock: Shaklee's 40g protein sparkling water!
The Strength Challenge
Now that everyone is warmed up from last week, we're diving into some heavy lift PRs. Over these next two weeks, we will be tracking your guys's heaviest lifts and have prizes for both female and male winners for each exercise. Exercises include bench press, bicep curl, single arm row (landmine or dumbbell), and leg press. We're beyond excited to see all participants push to beat their own records, and each other's! Sit tight while we post the most updated results on our Instagram story.
August's Quadrathlon
Starting August 1st, we are finishing off with a quadrathlon (rowing, climbing, running, and cycling). Each activity will be the length of a local distance:
- Row Kal lake (15 km on the rowing machine)
- Climb SilverStar Mountain (760 flights on the stairmaster)
- Run/walk the Rail Trail (50km on the treadmill)
- Bike the Rail Trail (50km on the bike)
All participants will have until the end of August to finish the quadrathlon. Winners will be chosen by who finishes first. Good luck everyone!
The Real Wins of Summer
The real reward isn't just the records smashed, but the growing confidence and consistency from each participant. We are proud of each one of our clients that pushed themselves past their limits during our last challenge and the ones yet to come! Keep an eye out for what's coming this fall, as we will keep the motivation flowing with new challenges and programs!
